Updates this weekend. Lack of updates = I'm sick. Thanks.

Friday, October 17, 2008

HELLO.

As I will be raving tonight, and I was out last night, there are NO COMICS this weekend. However, every time I post somehitng to this effect, I always end up drawing a whole heap of comics as posting them all at once.

SO:

No comic

or

Lots of comics.

Let's see what Fate has in store for you over this weekend?

Noire

What was I saying about awesome Canberran webcomics?

Lana, a friend of mine, has published her comic online (on a real site -- better than me!). Called Noire, this comic is about a little cat called Vincent, a mouse called Blink and a hat called Hat.

Check it out, here.

Peas.

Upcoming appearances.

Hopefully I'll be appearing in (these) guy's documentary about Aussie webcomics. Do check it out, it be great.

Also, I'm looking to create a forum/thing for ACT-region comic writers/artists. If you know of one, comment and let me know, cus right now I know of NONES.

STAND THE FUCK BACK I HAVE A GUITAR

Sooo I got a new (semi) acoustic guirar yesterday. I'll post photos soonish. Arent you all so happy? I'm giving my old acoustic guitar to Gina. Yays!

Names on Deviantart

So I made a Deviant Art account a few days ago. I thought, you know, I'll be like the cool kids with my DA and my 10k pageviews and stuff, but after about 15 minutes on that site I feel so dirty.

The people have screen names like ditduts, prahSmulP, elizabeth-rose05, misu1975, svengello, Mimidagr81, Glyc3r1ne, bonewald, bahebak2, eesulbee and Ravenhaven.

I mean, out of that list, I like, maybe, eesulbee (I like a work that starts and ends in a double letter, bonus points if it's the SAME letter) and svengello, cus hey, svengello. Say it. There we go. Isn't that a great word? I might marry a Gello and call my first son Sven just so I can say that every day. Oh, and grats to Bonewald on awesome namey-ness.

On the other hand, what pixiedust were Mimidagr81 and ditduts sniffing when they opened their account? And in what kind of community is bahebak such a popular name that there needs to be two? Glyc3r1ne sounds like the chemical name of a pesticide. And Ravenhaven sounds like a screen name pushed out of the wrong end of a goth.

On the other hand, espii, a name I made up when I was 12 or 13ish (I wanted my "email name" to start with an E, be short, catchy and memorable, unlike Glyc3r1ne, and was also probably influenced by the pokemon Espeon at the time) has joined a fitting line-up on DA. I've realised that the name looks and sounds like a 13 year old chose it. But I love it. I'll probably be espii until I'm waaay too old to laugh at myself, and I start waving at kids to get off my lawn.

I want Ebola.

(((((((((((((http://www.giantmicrobes.com/))))))))))))))))))
Want want want Ebola.

Aligator of Morality.

I love Aligator of Morality. I made him up 2 years ago and since then, when in a morally dubious situations I stop and think, 'what would Morality Alligator do? Morality Alligator would eat everyone, which I know is morally wrong. So if I DONT eat everyone, whatever I do is morally acceptable"

Also known as Alligator Logic.

Updates have been a little thin on the ground lately so here's a post of 6 comics in a day to make up for it.

I had a sleepless creative night last night and wrote a whole lot of comics that I think have taken Kitten and Snake to a new level - more edited and considered, more focused and probably more fun. Stick around for them over the next month.

Thnks guys.

Ps: special mention to Sam. Hi Sam!

Ads Shmads.

I just got an email from a travel company asking if they could put an ad on the Kitten and Snake site. Um, no. But still, I am secretly flattered. Apparantly my Canberra-centric website attracts people wanting to travel with Indonesian travel agants.

Oh wow, I just found a Song 2 (Blur) remix in my music folder. I am happy.

Still deciding on that walk.

No so happy. The remix sucks.

Peease
Em.

work and walks.

Mmmm mentioned on the livejournal canberra community.

I want to go for a walk, but it is midnight. However, it is also the suburbs. This is a dilemma.

Sorry for the few days there of not updating. That was me being slack due to the hellish hellishness of work ATM.

Holiday Blues

Why do my holidays always suck so much? Oh yeah, work.

Some pretty desktops for you.

So I was doing some design for a surprise that is to come (more on that later), and in the end, I used the scrap designs to make some desptop wallpaper things. Here y'all are:

Just click to make them big, then save. Should fit most screens. In desktop properties make the background colour white, and you're good to go.

Mah Kittenn.

So finally I'm featuring my 9 year old cat, Cobbie. Purchased from the RSPCA in 1999, Cobbie, (or cobweb), has some interesting features. She dribbles when she purrs, for example. And theres somehitng up with her eye. She has the winking disease. Not as becoming as it sounds. She also lets all four cats on our street in to eat her food and piss everywhere, including the heater. That cost $190 to get cleaned and then we had to let it burn off for a few days. Burning cat piss. I'm sure you can imagine. In short, she's the greatest cat ever, and I love her.

Also, featured in this comic, waaaaay back in the day.

Thursday, August 28, 2008

This isnt lazyness.

The comic wil be on somehting of a hiatus while i'm at school this term, and UNFORTUNATLY, also over the holidays, due to full time work, while my awful, awful creatives are put to good use in the art room, making crap paintings.

Tax is hard. This form is written in a language that I can not understand. BACK INTO HELL YOU WOEFULL BEAST.

Loves you alls.

PS: It's decided! UK next year!!!!

ColonD

So I'm thinking of changind Friction Static Charged to ColonD. ColonD is an (in) joke about MSN, facebook and AIM's bitchy problem of changing side smilies into badly drawn little gif emoticons. Call me a purist, but I like the simplicity of a :D over the social implications of an unchangable little yellow dude drawn by overpaid and underskilled graphic designers for a company lke Microsoft. Perhaps it's because the smily ":D" is a basis for the :D expression held by Gini and Emi in Friction Static, and not the weird little banana smile of MSN emoticons. It's an asthetics thing.

At any rate, ColonD is a short hand way of writing the auto-changed little side smily :D.

I like the ring to it. Any thoughts?

Where are the updates?

No new updates this weekend. I intend to enjoy the last 3 days of my holidays in such a way as I have not enjoyed the last 5 hellish days. Other than meeting with Jim in civic, the last week has been teeth grittingly painful. I crave sleep and fags and a few nights of partying with Gina and Alex and a few days wrapped under my doona and above all, the quest for the most perfect wool to knit my way through the first week of AST term and the most perfect art book to start my new semester (after a hearty year of non-art subjects). Amen.

Why cant i sleeeeeeep?

I drew this in no more than four minutes (colour and words and all).
I cant sleeeeep. Dammit dammt dammit.
I'm falling into the easy trap of making this blog more pictures than words. THIS BLOG IS MEANT TO BE ALL WORDS. I am aiming to self-dicipline myself into doing words not pictures. Its harder to write than to draw. Gah.
Sleep now.

Hmmm...

The last few posts have been particually water-themed.

I did, in the end, decide to forgo sleep (its 3 am) and post some comics. In doing so I took down the old comic placeholder I had there for a few hours while I drew. This is an old comic, and I just don't think it's up to scratch. I've decided to occasionally post 'failcomics' on this blog that didn't make the cut to go onto Friction Static. Here's the comic that I had up on Friction not long ago:

Yeah, I just don't like it.

Sleep now, work tomorrow from 8. YAYS.

No post today. It's 1 am and I'm trrrrrrred. Plus I've been knitting all day. Wish me luck at work tomorrow with no sleep.

Xmas in July at Cube was great. Everyone who didn't go, go back in time and go. Everybody who did go, :D.

Emily and the Great Rave Spirit, and Why She Was At Chrome.

I was in civic today and I had about a million people ask me about Neverest. Either how was it or why wasn't I there. I also had lovely Gareth and Cal vaguely wondering where I was for their doof on the same night. So I guess I owe these guys an explanation, which I will thoughtfully put here on my blog where nobody will ever read it (hey, I'm more interested in the images, too. Friction Static away, this blog is mostly for myself).

I didn't go to Neverest or the doof because, presently, I'm burnt out on raves and doofs. It's not the haluciogens or the repeditive music that has me burnt out. It's (predictably, for Canberra)the people. And I'm not talking about the uber sweet girls and guys with layers of candy chains, candy jewelery and actual candy. Those guys are cute and great to talk to. It's the assholes that attend. You know who you are, and hey, this is Canberra, so everyone knows who you are, too. You make raving a dirty illegal gangsta drugfest. It's not the drugs I mind - believe me, I'm MORE than okay with the drugs. It's the asshole stuff you guys do. It's the fireworks inside and the paint on the walls and pigion squishing. It's the way that people seem to assume that if they have a handfull of E to sell, they are the king of everything. It's the way that those assholes totally miss the point of love and respect and go for cheap and nasty gangsta power trips. You guys are at the heart of the scene and you know it. Therefore, it's an asshole scene. Thanks guys.

Oh, and Gareth. I'm talking about Neverest here. Your awesome Doof was just too far away. Congrats on getting old, though. Come buy booze and cigarettes with me some time. Laugh at kids. Smoke a cigar while in a casino getting a tattoo. Cool? Cool.

As if to prove my point, Sophie's car was tipped at Neverest. Which means some assholes actually tipped her car onto it's side. See what I mean? Assholes.

What I DID do on Saturday was go to Chrome with Ruth and Millie and Jess. Which was awesome. Seriously, I'm up for Chrome next month. And maybe the next rave. We'll see.

Esp.

You cheap bastards know who you are.

TO THOSE BASTARDS WHO TIPPED SOPHIE'S CAR AT NEVEREST:
You are the scum of this earth. You are the most disgusting assholes ever, and I hope that one day when you have a car, it gets tipped by some gross skungy assholes, hopefully with you in it, so that you can see how it feels.

Happy Post-AST practice test day. You can stop pretending to care now.

Dear Wednesday: Today I, and a person you do not know, may or may not have gone round to you house to see if you were home, found out that you weren't, and then proceeded to jump on your trampoline for half an hour. Also, you cat needs feeding and I've been rooting through your garbage. It's cool though, it was Maco who let the guinie pigs out.

Okay, the comics have been a tad unsheduled. And by that I mean I am updating daily, but by 'daily' i mean the definition of daily that has me posting twice on the second day. That's right. THAT definition.

So I went to the coase with Ginaface of the weekend. Had a great time, and now its AST season...(go shoot an AST!). No, seriously, I am bored. Why is it so long? It's like the person who wrote it was a Time Magician. Damn you Wednesday for making me think that.

Today Maco and I went to Tilly's for nachoes, bought some kitch Japanese writing books and met that cute fat dog. It ws so cute. And so fat. I loved it like a mummy loves a dog she just met in a cafe. Like that. Mmm.

Peace and other overused words,
>esp.

Flop

Garrrgh blarg.

Sooo I was up until 6am watching movies last night, and today I slept in till 1.

More movies tonight I think.

The good news is that I'd done quite a few comics. It's really frustrating to have to exert self-control and not post them all at once. So therefore I'm posting alot, each day. Woo. But on top of that I still have this little cache of wet-weather (or dry weather, when I'm outside) comics to post in the future. My goal is to be at 100 comics by the end of Test Week.

I havn't seen VaGina or the lovely Wednesday since last weekend. I'm helping Wed move her stuff tomorrow (She's just got a cheap apartment! Oh, hello jealousy. I'm still perpetually between apartments.) And so Gina will probably be there, helping carry boxes with her giant-like tallness and her muscles there.

Wellll, that's all from me.
Oh, AND, Happy Birthday, Mum! May God let you never find this comic. Amen.
Alexis.

And so it begins...

If you've reached this <"blog"> (vile) via anything other than my art journal, welcome to confusion.

To everyone else, welcome to the text blog which accompanys my art journal, Friction Static Charged .

And so, today I've posted my first 30 or so creations. I'll be updating Monday-Wednesday-Saturday for the forseable. The 30ish posts are an introduction, updates will be just one or two comics. And so, I can almost truthfully say that I hope you enjoy Friction Static Charged.

This journal will be a standard text-blog type affair. You'll see what I'm going to post about when I start to post.

Friction Static Charged-related news will be posted on the Friction site.

On a final note, my profile here is woefully inaccurate and built on a basis of lies and falsifications. I like it that way. If you'd like a lie to be added, let me know. (my age is right, and my birthday, hint).

Thanks and goodnight!
